Our Services

Advocacy

Advocacy service is available for clients having problems understanding or communicating with other agencies. Sierra SAFE staff will communicate on behalf of the client, or attend appointments with them.

Crisis Line

The crisis line offers a 24-hour, seven day a week response to callers in Sierra and Plumas Counties and is operated by PCIRC through the use of trained volunteers. Call 877-757-0029 or 530-283-4333.

Domestic Violence Services

Our domestic violence services include counseling, advocacy, accompaniment, and access to the domestic violence shelter. We can also assist with domestic violence restraining orders.

Emergency Shelter

Emergency shelter is provided through the Women’s Shelter under correct criteria and/or motels.

Lending Library

The Lending Library has a range of subjects from sexual assault, domestic violence to self-help and parenting.

Peer Counseling

Peer Counseling emphasizes support and the resources each individual may have and not realize: family, friends, church and their support group.

Sexual Assault: Freedom and Education

We offer services as the Rape Crisis Center for Sierra County. Staff members and volunteers are on call to support victims of rape (through a forensic exam or counseling), accompany clients to appointments or court, advocate for the survivor, and provide peer counseling. Presentations to schools, businesses, organizations and other agencies are made on topics such as rape prevention, sexual harassment, and self-defense. A lending library of books and videos is available on a wide variety of subjects.

The Sierra SAFE Program is a program of PCIRC. Our office is located in Loyalton and staffed Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm. Within our building is also the Victim Services office. Victim Services has been very successful in assisting our clients with restraining orders and other services. This is a unique opportunity for victims of crime to come to one location and have all their needs met.  We work closely with all the agencies throughout Sierra County and can connect victims to any other service that may be needed.

Donations are always gratefully accepted.

As advocates and organizations across the country hold events to mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Plumas Crisis Intervention & Resource Center’s Plumas Rape Crisis Center and Sierra SAFE offices and staff would like to take a moment to honor all of the survivors of sexual violence, especially those who are in the shadows and are marginalized from mainstream prevention and intervention efforts. PCIRC would also like to acknowledge the work you, our partners and stakeholders, have done and continue to do to empower these survivors and make their concerns part of the growing national conversation around sexual assault. Your efforts and commitment are evidence that a solution is possible. Thank you.
